Venue:
Chinese Arts & Culture Centre Telford / Zoom Online

This weekend covers the traditional Sun Style Tai Chi Sword, which was created based on the traditional Xing Yi San Cai (three scholars) sword, this routine can be practised as a solo form and two-person fighting form. It gives practitioners a unique insight into sword technique and how it can be used in combat.

In this weekend's seminar, we will introduce a compact form of solo practice, we will also cover some of the methods of partner work, in which two practitioners work together to explore how Tai Chi sword techniques can be used in martial applications. The practice of the form with a partner will also help us understand the meaning behind each sword technique and how these techniques could help raise practitioners' awareness of body coordination, body balance, mindfulness, and energy manipulation.

This course is also designed to offer Tai Chi Sword enthusiasts an insight into two-man sword practice. whether it is for improvement of one's practice or consolidating one's standard in practice or teaching.

Enthusiasts of other Tai Chi disciplines are also welcome to attend this seminar as most styles of Tai Chi share similar principles and theories in sword practice, thus allowing participants to gain an understanding of traditional swordsmanship and skill. It also helps enthusiasts to understand more about their discipline from a different angle.

As the form has two parts (up and down), we will partner up with participants on the weekend and each partner will learn at least one part of the practice (either up or down). we will come back toward the end of the year for another weekend when participants can learn the parts they have missed.

Master Tary, 4th Generation lineage of Sun Style Tai Chi, is one of the leading Tai Chi teachers in Europe. This is a good opportunity to learn the essence and techniques of Tai Chi sword two-man practice, which is rarely taught in the West.

This weekend's training could form part of the certification module on these forms for Deyin Instructors. After this weekend, There will be a further weekend of updates and assessments for interested Deyin Instructors to get certified to teach this form. (The date will be confirmed at the end of the weekend)
